Evaluation- A Change of Hands

For our first practical Induction Task, we had to create a short film that involved something to change hands. As a group we decided that our narrative would be following two people on their way to meet each other as tey exchange a mystery package. Our main goal was to ensure that the short film included a narrative of changing hands and continuity. Our film was set on a small recreation ground near college and then following on into college as in our production time we used our time in lessons to create this piece and so that meant the college premises was most convenient for us at the time and it was a simple setting which fitted perfectly for our narrative. As are task was to ensure that we kept to the continuity rules it meant we had to make sure the clip ran smoothly and there where no mistakes. We were successful with costumes as they were the same throughout. The music didn't really fit in with the clip meaning that it didn't really run smoothly in terms of continuity. So in terms of improvement I think looking back I would definitely think about the soundtrack to the production more carefully and making sure it fits the narrative appropriately. I think the black and white filter worked really well in the majority of the shots when the lighting was good enough however some parts of the college had different contrasts to others meaning again the continuity rule was broken. The cinematography also worked well and the shot types in particular the close-ups were a highlight of mine but at times some of the timing was a little out in the shots with our hands in, but timing is another feature to consider next time ensuring continuity.
